We spent the day in the Abel Tasman National Park. There are no roads along this coastal park. There are walking paths and boats provide transport to and from popular walking areas and some small settlements.
Our day started with a two-hour coastal boat tour of the park from Kaiteriteri to Totaranui. This included a close up look at the Tonga Island Seal Colony where we spotted a few seals. Along the way we also dropped off day hikers at some of the popular areas.
On the return trip to Kaiteriteri we were dropped off at Anchor Bay for a two hour walk to Apple Tree Bay. The boat has a long metal gang plank that extends to and from the shore so you don't have to walk in the water when getting on and off the boat.
