We took the morning Interislander ferry Kaitaki from Wellington to Picton. This three and one- half hour journey goes from the bottom of the North Island to the top of the South Island of New Zealand.
Then we drove to Little Kaiteriteri where we are staying for the next two nights. Along the way we enjoyed the view and ate green mussels for lunch. We hoped to see penguins but did not.
