DAY FIFTEEN - Wellington

Thursday, October 31

We took a cable car up to the top of a botanic garden and walked back down into the city.  Along the way, we saw a Tui bird that feeds mainly on the nectar from flowering plants.

Later in the day we took a tour of the Parliament buildings.  The beehive shaped administration building is a more modern addition.  The library is in the oldest building and has recently been renovated.

In the evening we took a guided walking tour to view nightlife in a nature reserve.  We were lucky to see some kiwi birds.  These birds are only active at night and somewhat rare to get to see.

As we walked around during the day, we noticed that the signals for crossing the streets are unique in some parts of the city.
