Today we picked up our rental car and took the Sealink Ferry to Waiheke Island. Our rental car is a hybrid Toyota and was brand new with about 20 miles on it! Turns out the company wants it located at the South Island rental office where we end our trip and we get to provide the delivery service. (Auckland is on the North Island and we will continue our trip on the North Island after leaving Waiheke. Then we take another ferry to the South Island in a couple of weeks.) The car was so quiet when we first started it that we didn't think it was running and asked for help.
On Waiheke we visited the Stonyridge and Mudbrick Vineyards for wine tastings. For dinner we went to the restaurant at Cable Bay Vineyard. It is still the off-season here and the restaurant is only open on Friday and Saturday nights for dinner.
