DAY THREE - Waiheke Island

Saturday, October 19

This morning we drove the Island Loop Road stopping to visit the Stony Batter Historic Reserve.

On the Stony Batter Historic Reserve grounds are abandoned World World II gun emplacements and a tunnel complex built to defend Auckland from a Japanese attack.  The tunnels are no longer open for tours and the guns and equipment have been removed.

Afterwards we had a very nice three-course lunch at the Mudbrick Vineyard restaurant. We had a great view from our table.
