DAY SEVEN - Thames to Kuaotunu

Wednesday, October 23

Our first stop today was the Rapaura Watergardens.  The path through the gardens forms a figure eight and is meant to represent the symbol for infinity. Part of the path was shaded by tall ferns.

Next we visited the site of an ancient Kauri tree. These trees are protected from a spreading bark blight that is killing them by brushing your shoes or boots and spraying a disinfectant on their bottoms as you walk along the trail.

We then visited the town of Coromandel after eating some green mussels at a roadside cafe.

From there we stopped along the road to enjoy the views of the coast and walk along some beaches before arriving at our B&B in Kuaotunu.
